Where I want to go - 2 landscapes

I always have a feeling of wanting to escape to somewhere. A beautiful and interesting land where I can build a home and live freely. I'm not sure how realistic this fantasy is, I don't know where I would go, and I don't really have the means to do so. So instead I illustrate what those strange and wonderful places might look like if I could go there.

These are largely inspired by my love for the Adventure Time series; a show which perfectly captures that illusive feeling of home, freedom, and adventure.

I want to achieve this feeling for myself one day, a real place where I can feel at home.

These illustrations were made using free software Firealpaca.

Prints are available in A4 & A3, e-mail Jodie at sleepyvoodle@gmail.com to make an order.

In the garden 23/8/18 (Winter)

While it is technically still wintertime, the weather is already starting to warm up, and the daylight hours are increasing, always good. : )
I've been spending more and more time out in the garden, getting lots done, but also trying to remember that we have to move in 6 months time, and not to get myself too invested.
I would like to get a digital journal thing happening so I can look back and see the progress of things growing during our limited time here, I never get tired of seeing the awesome transformation that occurs as plants grow.

This is the progress of one of the small veggie beds.

Everything in this bed has done really well, we got several good harvests of cos lettuce, some are now starting to bolt, & I will save seed once they're ready. The viola(left) & snapdragon(right) flowers are both doing exceptionally well, my love & appreciation for flowers continues to grow. The herbs are also growing happily, the broad beans are flowering vigorously, and the cabbages are getting closer to harvest time.

Here's a closer shot of my biggest cabbage, what a beautiful thing. <3

Not much to see here, yet, but these are full of seeds starting to germinate, which will be planted out once they are strong seedlings and the weather warms up a little more.
Grow babies~

I will post with an update on these once there's a bit more to see. : )

This is the large veggie bed, which took lots of effort to clean up and make progress in. I have done some direct sowing, and also plan to start more in trays to plant into this space, may also grab some more seedlings from BAAG, including more flowers! I'm really excited to follow the progress of this bed as I have a bit more space to work with. Can't wait until I have acres to work with! :0

Spirits and Mortals 2020 - week 3 & 4

I'm still at it!

Week 3 'Pillow fort'
Be careful when messing around with summoning spells, you never know who, or what might show up...

Week 4 'Footprints'
Traversing the rainbow badlands is not a task to be taken lightly, especially whilst tracking a creature that can walk up walls.

Spirits and Mortals 2020! Week 1 & 2

I'm at it again! and this year I will complete the challenge!

Week 1 'The library'
Complete with a poltergeist specimen. Fanceh~ *glitter*

Week 2 'Cold rain'
The moral of this story is, don't steal stuff from wizards!

I'm off to start on week 3!!!

If you'd like to keep up on Insta, you can follow me!

Time sure does get away... Spirits and Mortals 2019.

It's been just over a year since my last post, aaand I'm a little ashamed about it.

My last post was the first drawing in what was supposed to be a weekly art prompt drawing challenge called Spirits and Mortals, started by JakeMorrisonArt on Instagram.
I started off pretty well, I was keeping up, having a great time doing the challenge, and I think it was really helping me improve in a lot of ways.

And then... and then I moved away with my girlfriend, and we didn't move just anywhere, we went hundreds of kilometers away, to live in a decrepit, off-grid house out in the Otways (a beautiful area in south-west Victoria). Great! What an adventure! and it was, for a while, but there were a few drawbacks, one of which was, I had NO PC!

Of course I couldn't keep up with the drawing challenge, and in the end I only got 9 of the 50 completed. : (

Good news is, I'm doing it again this year! But before I start posting about that, here are the drawings I completed for last year -

Week 2 'Torch'
Week 3 'A bridge and stream'
Week 4 'Moonlight'
Week 5 'Hidden treasure'
Week 6 'Red cave'
Week 7 'Pond magic'
Week 8 'Geyser'
Week 9 'Dungeon entrance'

That was all for the 2019 challenge, I'm sure I can do better in 2020!

Totally go ahead and Follow me on Insta if you like. : )
