Minecraft - My huge texture pack list /[@▽@']\

Having learned this morning that version 1.3 is only 2-3 weeks away from official release (yay!) I'm feeling pretty Minecrafty, so I thought I'd compile a list of texture packs that I use/have used & love :)
...
John Smith is a 32pix resolution texture pack that has a nice RPG feeling to it, & the detailing is second to none. There are some extra animations added, for example, ore blocks have a shine effect, which I found to be a beautiful touch. There is currently a small range of customisation options available, & the creator has stated that extra options are likely to be added in future :) Personally I would like an extra customisation option for the wool colours, the texture itself is great, but I'd like to try some bolder colours. I also noticed that the difference between certain colours is not distinct enough, ie. light blue & dark blue look too similar. All in all this is a stunning texture pack, it's my current favourite, & I don't see myself switching any time soon :) Get it here >>> JOHN SMITH TEXTURE PACK

...
*** 'Gerudoku Faithful' has a similar feel to the John Smith pack, & can be found here >>> GERUDOKU FAITHFUL TEXTURE PACK. We had issues with the original version, if it doesn't work for you, try the 'blue slimes' version instead ;)
...
Faithful (32pix) is quite simply a higher resolution version of the default Minecraft textures. I played with this pack on for quite a while, & had nostalgic feelings of when I first started playing Minecraft. It's a great pack if, like me, you enjoy Minecrafts default textures, but prefer things slightly higher res :) Get it here >>> FAITHFUL TEXTURE PACK

Last Days (32pix) is a fantastic post-apocalyptic pack that gives Minecraft a completely different look & feel, it's almost as though your playing a different game entirely :p I found myself building bunkers, & racing to get indoors before nightfall (when ordinarily I'm not so bothered) This pack has a great amount of detail to it, & lots of imagination too. One particular aspect that I loved, but some people may not be so keen on, is that many items are completely different from the default, for example, your health bar appears as a radiation metre, & eating reduces your radiation level, keeping you alive. Wheat appears as orange powder that is crafted into pills that lower radiation when consumed. I found the changes to be really fun, they do take some getting used to though. Happily, after a few hours of gameplay you get the hang of things.
If you happen to be a Fallout3 fan, you'll likely love this pack. Throw on the GNR soundtrack, & you've got a blissfully addictive combination happening.

*** 'The End is Extremely Nigh', though fairly different from Last Days has a similar feel to it. It seemed as though it is not yet 100% complete, but it's worth a look. Get it here >>> THE END IS EXTREMELY NIGH TEXTURE PACK
...
Adventure Time Craft (32pix) is one of the brightest & most cartoony feeling texture packs that I know of. It is based on the popular cartoon series 'Adventure Time', & it does a wonderful job of capturing the whimsical & fun nature of the series :) This would be a great pack for kids (or just the young at heart) The only issue with this pack is that many of the single block paintings seem to be missing, & appear as a blank colour :/ It's not a huge problem, & one that I hope will be fixed in future. Get this pack here >>> ADVENTURE TIME CRAFT TEXTURE PACK

...
*** Another bright, cartoony texture pack is 'Jolicraft'. It's a lower resolution pack at 16pix, so it may run more smoothly than a 32pix pack. Jolicraft is beautifully detailed & was my texture pack of choice for a long while, check it out here >>> JOLICRAFT TEXTURE PACK
...
& finally Sphax PureBDCraft! This is a texture pack that many Minecrafters know & love. It is available in a range of resolutions, it's smooth, clean, & very well maintained. Sphax has a comic book feel to it, & all the textures work nicely together, it's a truly awesome pack & well worth a try. The Sphax pack also supports a number of mods, including the ever popular Tekkit (technic mod pack) :)
Why is it not my favorite texture pack? Personal taste is the answer. I do love Spahx, it was one of the earlier texture packs I played with, I just feel it's a little plain, but that's just my personal opinion, give it a try for yourself! Get it here >>> SPHAX PUREBDCRAFT TEXTURE PACK

There you have it! That's my current list of awesome texture packs, I hope you find it useful. Here is a page on the Minecraft forums that lists a good number of texture packs for each resolution >>> TEXTURE PACK CENTRAL, & in the 'Texture Packs' section of Planet Minecraft, you can sort texture packs by popularity, resolution, game version, etc. Check that out here >>> PLANET MINECRAFT TEXTURE PACKS.
Enjoy everyone!
